Catch of the Day

Inspired by my recent walk in a park. There's a stream running through it and I was very sad to see how dirty it was. Beautiful swans and ducks swimming amongst plastic bottles, sweet wrappers and other bits of rubbish - not a pretty sight And I'm not just sad for our wonderful nature which we are persistently destroying... all that plastic, it's not going anywhere, most of it is not being recycled and just dumped in the oceans. Are we all eventually going to drown in it?

My family are now on a mission to use as little plastic as possible. We never used to buy water in plastic bottles and always bring our own bags to the supermarket but now we're making even more effort. It turned out to be rather challenging but we won't give up - from using wood and bamboo tooth brushes, bar soap instead of shower gel and handwash, reusable glass bottles and stainless steel lunch boxes, cooking at home and buying groceries locally, with minimum plastic packaging... I think we can make a difference. Join in.
