Enchanted

While painting this illustration I was brooding a French style fairy-tale around it - they're my favourite kind. These tales can be pretty gory and dark but so full of charm and magic. Often in French fairy-tales a man gets turned into an animal or a bird by some jealous fairy or a vengeful dwarf and his beloved, usually a princess, goes through a whole lot of trouble to save him.

In my story a princess falls in love with a handsome shepherd. Her fairy god mother gets furious and turns him into a lamb, hoping the princess will forget her love. She doesn't, of course. Clad in the ship skin coat that her lover made for her she leaves, determined to find a way to break the spell, poor lamb following her every step...
